I have seen most of the criticism about my release and I have seriously considered most of them.
First things first, the font I used... OK I agree it was a bit distracting, and took away from the viewing of the episode, so from now on I will use the font most people expect, "Arial", but the color coding stay as I have gotten too many praises about it versus the minority of the people who oppose it. So that is where that stands,
The video codec, some say we should not use Divx and instead use Xvid. I use Divx for the simple reason that my XBMC, and Xbox 360 love Divx so much. I don't need TVersity to watch something I made and neither do others as well. This is all about compatibility and ease of use for the end user, you all. So we will make test encodes and see if we can keep the same quality for the size using Xvid, if that's the case and we can still run it on the platforms stated above then I am not opposed to using that codec.
Others say that for HD files we should be using H.264 to encode, yes and no. Once again for people who use Xbox 360 and PS3 to watch HD video files Divx just works and looks great. While H.264 does look great for a smaller file size it runs into compatibility problems and then you, the end user, has to take extra steps to enjoy the final product. Having said that I know the vast majority of you out there will be watching this on a PC and for that very reason we are looking into making H.264 encodes of the SD and HD episodes. Having said this I hope to end the discussion on the codecs we should use.
And now a sticky subject, the color coded subtitles. They stay, end of story, but that doesn't mean we won't take suggestions on which ones are hard to read in what kind of background (light or dark scene). So send us that info and we WILL tweak the colors until they are just right.

ok thats all wiked so when do you guys realease the new episode Thursday or Friday? in HD by the way and the new encoding ur using will it be able to still work on my ps3?
Thank you all I asked for was Arial font and that's what you are offering. I like the idea of colored font and you understand that they may need to be tweaked. Thanks for your understanding and I can't wait for you next Naruto release.

we are shooting for Friday night 9PM Eastern Standard Time (GMT-5) to release them all simultaneously, but we'll see what happens, at the very least I want the SD versions out
Yes, the main thing I want is so that you guys out there DON'T have to recompile the episodes to watch them

yes that would be Saturday around 1-3 AM depending on where you live over there. so 2am estimate

great man oh your the best and this new encoding your doing will it still work on my ps3/360? and laptop?
we are still playing with divx/xvid but these are the ones you want for 360/ps3/XBMC on an old Xbox as they run without you doing anything to them
while the h264 encodes are great if you only watch on a pc, they are the same quality, just a bit smaller
another good thing about Divx is they run on those divx playing set-top boxes(dvd players and such with DIVX logo on them)
ohh thats wiked them, you might aswell stick to Divx/Xvid and yeah i watch naruto on my playstation 3 with my bro and its all thanks to you man you awsome keep this good work up and seriously you dont need to make to meany changes only thing i can think of is the font which u have sorted now to ARIAL and the release date which you said they will imporve but thanks man for naruto your great
Hi I like you subbs and the design of everything, Love it that i can play it on my 360.
But I just have one suggestion, just try out the font "Impressed BT" its smoth and works with almost ewery color. Just a suggestion hope you like it :)

I DO like the coloring of the fonts, it should making reading a little easier when multiple people are talking.
glad you guys have decided to change the font. I am however disappointed that you decided to keep the color coding. Naruto isn't that complex of a show that is to say people don't generally talk on top of each other so keeping track or who said what isn't so difficult that one would need colors to help them through it, but I guess not much can be done if other people feel they need that help.
Well if your deaf, you can't tell whose saying what, especially if they have a mask on their faces, like kakashi. We are trying to make this so that everyone can enjoy.
I can understand the urge to use colors for each character, but it's really too eye-catching. I suggest using one color for each character with black lining, or white letters with differently colored lining. just to have a bit more consistency.
and please do use Arial font, or Vogel. we fans scan the subtitles with our eyes; we don't actually stay and read each word. so the font must be something very basic and easy to go through with our eyes.

Please don't let others' criticism and everything get you down. You do things in your own way-- not dattebayo's-- and I, for one, am happy as long as they're happening, whatever nitpickers say.
I think its great that you are offering such a service for us that are too cheap to pay hard cash. As long as their is a way to watch it, I cannot complain at all. Keep up the good work!
I think you could be more carefull with how long some subtitles take to dissapear. it's THE problem with fansubs, everyone makes them last the duration of the actual speaking, and sometimes what it's said in japanese (or chinese, whatever) is much shorter than the translation, so we end up having a lot to read in a very short period of time. it's a pain if you're not english (like me hehe) and don't have an habit of reading english subs. i end up having to scroll back a few seconds and pause just to get the ideia of what was said. other than that, great work!
Yeah, the subs duration thing is a rookie mistake, and you'll have to excuse us until we get the hang of things. This week's should be alot better.
I just wanted to let you guys know I watched the crunchyroll release of episode 92 today and wow, your work is already sooooo much better than the official subs! Their H.264 video looked like a pirated VHS movie, they omitted all the -kun's and -sama's, and I'm sure all the fun profanity will get cut off in future episodes--Yikes! I'm just glad I can come here for my weekly naruto fix and still get awesome video, audio, and subtitle quality. Thank you for doing this for us and keep up the good work! :)
Thank you so MUCH for all your work! I love the Subs colored! They are the best and it helps differentiate which character is talking. One thing though that I was wondering, Will you guys be subbing the intro and outro songs? Because that would help drastically! Thanks again!
as for the font..if you dont like arial, you could try comic sans... it's easy to read and it still has some character
Just wanted to say thanks for continuing to release new NAruto episodes. The quality is more than worth the extra 2 - 3 days.
